I’ve been a huge, huge, huge Skid Row fan since my late teens, Out of all the “hair” hard rock/heavy metal bands listened to, Skid Row was on top of the list, bar none. Every one in that band was crazy talented, came up with the gnarliest riffs, and sickest tone. But Bach’s vocals were still able to compete and match the style and tone of rest of the band.
I ended up seeing Sebastian with his solo band years ago at Maryland’s own M3 Rock Festival. Not only was I surprised that he played the deeper cut fan favorites as oppose to the commercial hits, he killed it with the vocals. I’ve seen a number of my favorite bands from the 80’s in recent years, and especially with all those high notes, not many of them can quite pull them off nowadays. Skid Row being ripe with notes like that, Sebastian did a great job hitting all of them.
I made this piece with some Japanese influence because to reflect how Sebastian’s voice is still as sharp as a katana with a burning background.
